The First Baptist Church Sonshine School Staff is committed to providing a safe, secure, and loving environment for your child. Our goal is to model Christ-like character and to share God's love in an intimate way.

Sonshine School Bible/Music & Movement:
Paige Scott

During Bible, children will learn about God’s Word using colorful posters, rhymes, and songs. No child is too young to begin hiding God’s Word in their heart, so each month, a Scripture Memory verse will be learned using familiar tunes. In Music and Movement, children will actively participate in fun songs that promote gross and fine motor development, rhythm, and body awareness. Most of all, they will learn a variety of songs about the world God made, and how much He loves each and every child. A variety of activities will include the use of age appropriate rhythm instruments, puppets, mirrors, and active movement.

Sonshine School Infant Teachers love babies with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. The responsibilities of nurturing, caring, and maintaining a safe environment for your infant are very important to us. Our goal is to provide an environment that will help develop your infant’s growth both physically and spiritually. Our teachers will use sounds, songs, words, and gestures to help develop your child's verbal skills. Soft play will encourage your infant’s physical growth. Our teachers will provide highly responsive care to help your child feel safe and secure, recognizing any signs of stress to help reduce any frustration as they experience the many new activities each day as they learn more about the world around them, about others, and about their self.

Our Toddler Teachers are filled with energy, patience and love, ready to make your toddler's day one that will have a lasting impact. Sonshine School teachers are gifted in nurturing your toddler through active play and activities in a safe environment for your child's healthy development. At Sonshine School, our teachers will introduce a variety of concepts, understanding that your child will need encouragement and patience as they grasp each new concept. Sonshine School teachers are ready to provide your child a safe environment in which they will be allowed to interact through verbal and non-verbal communication in a loving and secure environment- all of which is important in transitioning to your child's healthy development.

Two is a terrific time in our program. Two is also an exciting time in your child's life. Your child is growing in their physical, mental and spiritual self. Their energy level is high and their awareness of their self and independence grows dramatically each day. Our teachers are especially gifted with love and patience for the two year old stage. They are ready to answer the “Why” and “What” questions your child will ask. Our teachers will introduce a variety of information and concepts in a hands on classroom setting and in a one-on-one setting. Your two year old will be challenged, nurtured, loved, and presented plenty of opportunities to develop their many skills to become a successful preschooler. Our two year old staff is ready to meet your preschoolers many needs while providing a safe, secure and fun environment for your child.
